Nokia Theater, Los Angeles

Paul Freeman graced the stage with a surprisingly amazing opening act.  Armed with just an acoustic guitar and his voice, this Welshman practically blew my mind away.  Usually opening acts are just filler that lots of people skip out on, but I'm very glad I witnessed his performance.  His guitar strumming sounded beautiful and his voice was so powerful yet so lovely.  He also covered The Traveling Wilburys' "Handle With Care"!  :D  Definitely gotta check out more of his stuff!

Roger Daltrey came on around 8:00-8:15ish.  BOOM the Tommy Overture started and everyone got up.  In case you don't know Roger Daltrey is one of my favorite singers of all time, and The Who is probably my favorite classic rock band.  Anyhow, the band played through the entire "Tommy" set (skipping the 10-minute long Underture) and the audience was practically standing the entire time.  "Pinball Wizard" was an awful lot of fun and so was "We're Not Gonna Take It."

After they finished Tommy, Roger and the band started playing a ton of other songs, ranging from The Who classics to covers!  This is the whole setlist:
-I Can See For Miles
-The Kids Are Alright
-Behind Blue Eyes
-Days Of Light  (Roger Daltrey solo project)
-Going Mobile (sung by the guitarist, Pete Townshend's younger brother, Simon Townshend)
-Pictures Of Lily
-Freedom Ride (Taj Mahal cover)
-a medley of songs by JOHNNY CASH!  :o
-Who Are You
-Young Man Blues (Mose Allison cover, famously performed by The Who on "Live At Leeds")
-Baba O'Riley
-Without Your Love (Roger Daltrey solo project)
-Blue Red And Grey

Baba O'Riley was the highlight of the night in my opinion.  Everyone was dancing, Roger had the audience sing the "Don't cry..." part, and the end of the drum solo really did it for me!  ^_^  ahh, I'm so happy!  I'm sure hoshi-luv enjoyed it as much as I did!

I can't sleep so I think I'll just lay down some of my thoughts...

There's really not much interesting stuff going on with me right now...  I'm back in Santa Barbara for the summer, yet the guy who's supposed to give me a summer job still hasn't come to fill out paperwork and stuff yet, so I'm not sure when I'm gonna start working.  Basically my days consist of lots of gaming, whether it's League of Legends with my roommates, American McGee's Alice on my computer, or just playing whatever on the PS3.  So interesting huh?  Still haven't seen HP7.2 yet, though hopefully that will change tomorrow.  Speaking of Harry Potter, I don't think that 7.1 is as great as everyone says it is...  "IT'S SUCH A GOOD MOVIE ASILHDFUBGHA!"  eeh...  Half of it was all talk and them walking and camping...  The other half certainly was amazing and awesome and magical, it's just the looooong parts of them searching in the woods that got to me.  Well, I guess you've got to have some slow parts if you're splitting a book into 2 movies right?

Anyhoo, I finished L.A. Noire for the PS3, and I have to say that game is quite amazing.  It was definitely unlike any game I've ever played before and I was astonished.  Now I always say that graphics don't make a game, and I don't care about them at all, except for this case.  This game actually used the graphics to its full potential to help with the great story and gameplay.  Basically you're a detective and you have to go around solving cases.  This includes interrogating people and judging whether they're lying or telling the truth simply by reading their facial expressions.  Of course you can't make it too blatantly obvious or it would be too easy, but they did a good job of keeping things subtle.  I never went through one case where I correctly judged the validity of a person's statement every time...  I also really liked the setting in 1940s America, and my favorite part of the game was going through the Black Dahlia arc.

Now I'm REALLY not looking forwards to our 4th roommate (Daniel) moving in.  He's a nice guy and all, but he has no filter on his mouth.  He can practically insult people without realizing it, and I'm pretty sure he's not the most truthful person around.  Twice already he has said things that really hurt me and he hasn't even moved in yet...  And with him, there should always be a conversation going on.  When we're not talking, me and my two other roommates (Zach and Mike) are fine just sitting around keeping to ourselves, because sometimes we just want some quiet time.  I have plenty of stories about this guy, you'll probably hear more in future rants but here's one Zach told me:  Daniel called Zach to make sure that things were settled.  To be nice Zach asked him how his trip was (he was in Israel) and he went on and on and on literally until the money on his phone card ran out.  Zach told me he was watching TV and just sitting there with his phone in his hand...  lol...  It's not such a big deal.  Zach, Mike, and I are very tolerant, but if we snap, Zach and Mike can pull the circuit breaker to the rest of the house and have electricity go only into their room (where I'll be too).  *evil grin*

A couple more points:

-Some people on Facebook REALLY need to shut up
-It makes me sad when old friends don't talk anymore
-The world can always use some more good people
-I love you for reading this

Prepare yourself for a rant (maybe a bit of spoilers too).............

fuck fuck fuck fuck FUCK!

God damn I haven't been this mad in such a long time!  This movie was so fucking TERRIBLE!  It's not a good thing for a film when you hate EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER AND WANT THEM ALL TO JUST DIE SO THAT THIS TRASH WILL BE OVER!  Oh my god...  Oh my fucking god...  I knew Revenge of the Fallen was shit (I haven't seen it) and my friend was like "OMG Geoff!  Let's see Transformers 3 after AX it looks a lot more awesome!" so I complied...  BIG MISTAKE!  It started off meh, so I was like why not give it a chance to redeem itself after all the bad things I heard about the 2nd movie?  NOPE!  It just got progressively worse and worse.  Friends tell me "well yeah, you watch Transformers to see giant robots fighting, not for plot/dialogue/anything that makes a movie good."  Well guess what, the first half of the movie has like NO ACTION!  The first half is a comedy.  Started off funny at first then more and more facepalms started coming.  Oh yeah, and this movie is like 2.5 hours long, so half the movie is a long time.  By the time the action comes in I was already fed up.  Then the second half is an endless barrage of nonstop ridiculous action and deus ex machinas.  I was soooo worn out by the movie already that the action just felt like a burden.

There's one part where Shia Lebuttfuck is facing off against the human bad guy who has a gun.  Then a flying newspaper hits the bad guy in the face and the fucktard takes that opportunity and whacks the bad guy with a pole, which basically ends up killing him...  WHAT THE FUCK!?  THE BAD GUY DIED BECAUSE OF A FUCKING NEWSPAPER!  god damn...  Then there's another part where Bumblebee is like about to be killed by a decepticon, but guess what?  The two tiny random comic relief autobot-shits hack a flying decepticon dropship and start randomly dropping the ships inside.  Guess where one lands...  OMFG WHAT'S THIS!?  IT LANDED ON THE ROBOT THAT WAS GONNA KILL BUMBLEBEE!?  Well of course, that happens all the time!  Herp derp...

At first I was pointing out the stupid parts quietly to my sister :iconhoshi-luv: then as I got more and more fed up, I guess I got louder and more obnoxious in the theater to the point that I didn't care at all.  One part the characters spend like forever killing this one decepticon and when it's head falls off and finally dies, Shia Lebuttfuck is like "Well he's dead..."  I couldn't believe it so I just yelled out HURFFF without realizing how loud I was xD.  And at the end of the movie I yelled FINALLY IT'S OVER!

Gaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh

Those of you friends with me on Facebook already know, but if I'm ever in John Connor's position, I swear I will send a Terminator back in time to murder Michael Bay...  I hate him, I hate him so much now...

I could go on and on with this, but it's 12:30 AM and I'm getting up at 7 tomorrow so I'll just leave you with that...  The only good part of this movie was Ken Jeong and Alan Tudyk btw...  And my sister says that was the only reason it was better than the 2nd movie.

Goodnight <3

hello hello hello!

just checking in with all of you!  Summer school finished in September (thank god) and now I hate psychology!  boooooo....

Anyhow, college this year round is pretty cooler than last year, considering that I have five awesome house-mates.  About one half of the household plays pokemon and various musical instruments, two guys play a lot of Starcraft and WoW, and we all just get along pretty well.  One Friday night, we had a Magic: The Gathering draft in order to build decks to use against each other (yeah, we're pretty geeky).  Also, I've also got back in the process of watching a lot of stuff.  I finally finished Doctor Who, and am currently in the process of watching YuYu Hakusho and FMA with a couple of roomies.  LOVE IT!  WE have so many movies saved across our computers!

Music is at a small hiatus right now.  I'm not really trying to finish any compositions or anything, but me and a roomie have a structure of chord progressions that could turn out to be quite a neat song IF we ever eventually come up with lyrics...  However I DO have a fingerpicking guitar arrangement of Five For Fighting's "100 Years" (look it up, it's a beautiful song) yet I haven't quite memorized it yet.

Pokemon is so huge here!  We basically have a large interwoven system of the different games that allows us to obtain/train/breed almost whatever we want.  We use my R4 Diamond version as a communal Pokemon storage system so that the others can restart their games and save the pokemon they like!  My pokewalker is a device used to get hard-to-obtain items and pokemon for everyone such as blue shards and flame orbs.  We also have Pokemon Battle Revolution (which I think is rather useless).

Anyhow, let me know how you are!  I love hearing from all of you!

<If you can read this, you are awesome>
